  • Mounting holes

Use cases
  • Bridge the zigbee signal outdoors from Bonsai to Bonsai
    • The zigbee 12V repeater can be used outside to bridge outdoor Bonsai to Bonsai signal issues. For example, if there is a barn outside of the zigbee signal from the Bonsai around the home, a 12V repeater could be placed in a tree or on a post in between the house and barn Bonsai to strengthen the signal.
  • Strengthen the overall zigbee mesh network

Preparation

What you'll need
  • Zigbee 12V repeater
  • Low voltage line 10V-15V
  • Waterproof connectors
  • Device with Redwoods Connect app installed with a WiFi or LTE connection
  • Smart Gateway added to Family or Home and online

Put zigbee 12V repeater in pairing mode

Connect the zigbee 12V repeater the low voltage power source.

If the red ring light around the stainless steel button is not blinking, press the button three times to put it into pairing mode. The red indicator light should start blinking. This means it's in pairing mode and is now ready to pair to the zigbee Gateway.

Add zigbee 12V repeater to app

In the Redwoods Connect App tap the Smart Gateway icon to open gateway settings then tap Add subdevice at the bottom of the screen.

Scroll to the bottom of the sub-device list and tap Light Source.

Confirm the red pairing indicator light is still blinking (in pairing mode) and then tap the Confirm indicator rapidly blink button.

Once it connects to the Smart Gateway you can rename the 12V repeater and optionally add it to a room. Note that it contains the same zigbee radio as the Bonsai so it adds just like a Bonsai but only lights the red ring.

Upon success you'll see it on the home screen and it will show as online.

Place the zigbee 12V repeater

Once the device is paired to the zigbee Gateway you can move it to a different location for optimal placement.

You might have to try a few different locations to ensure the best signal. A line of sight location between the devices you're trying to connect works best, either in a tree or on a post. Mount using the two mounting holes.
